Volvo brings you a stunning range of models with CO2 emissions below 120 g/km, improved fuel consumption and lower VED (Currently £35 per year)

Climate and safety awareness has its rewards. Like the new Volvo C30, S40 and V50 1.6D DRIVe. Designed to make eco-driving a beautiful thing, these supremely capable cars are as easy on the eyes as they are strict on emissions. That’s good for you and the people you’re with, and welcome relief for the environment.
Since
1927, we’ve been driven by passion for safety. As a result thousands of
people all over the world can say they’re still alive because of a Volvo.
Today we are working just as dedicatedly on creating new solutions to help
halt climate change. Our goal is crystal clear: to build cars that leave a
minimal impact on the environment. We don’t think that there is just one way
to tackle the environmental issues. We think there are many solutions and we
must explore all the options. That’s why we’re investing 1.2 billion euros
in developing new eco-technologies during the next five years. DRIVe
captures all our environmental work – from production to recycling – and
reflects our commitment to sustainable mobility.
Motion
We must minimise the emissions of fossil CO2 (which leads to climate change) and increase the energy efficiency of our cars. Continuous improvements within aerodynamics, rolling resistance, lightweight materials and drive train technology help us lower fuel consumption. To significantly reduce fossil CO2 emissions, we offer Flexifuel variants on five models in the Volvo range that run on E85 bioethanol.Another option is our three new, eco-designated diesel powered 1.6D DRIVe models with CO2 emissions from 115 to 118 g/km. We have also introduced Powershift, a new fuel-saving dual-clutch automatic transmission technology. In our new Hybrid technology centre in Göteborg, we develop the next generation power trains for future Volvos. The goal is that we use hybrid technology in all of our car models. We have been saving people in car accidents for more than 80 years. TODAY we have Yet another challenge.
IN SIDE
If you drive 10,000 miles a year, you spend at least 24 hours a month in your car. We also know that more and more people are suffering from asthma and allergies. To ensure a healthy interior for you and your passengers, we test upholsteries and interiors in the
Volvo Environmental Laboratory in Sweden. All upholstery materials and interior textiles comply with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 – an international benchmark for human ecological safety of textiles. All leathers are chromium-free – they’re tanned using vegetable or synthetic substances instead of chromium. And to meet high requirements on an allergy-friendly interior, we’ve developed the CZIP (Clean Zone Interior Package) together with the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association.
LIFECYCLE
Already from the early stages of conception we’ve considered our cars’ environmental impact: from design and manufacturing to useful life and recycling. For example, we’ve seen to it that our factories are powered by electricity produced by wind and hydro power and use energy and water responsibly. Our production facilities are certified under
the global environmental standard ISO 14001, and we make sure that all our major suppliers meet our strict environmental standards. At the end of its useful life, every Volvo is designed to be 85% recyclable. We also offer re-manufactured exchange parts which substantially reduces the need for raw materials and energy.

The beauty of eco-driving.
Enjoy our latest eco-progress – with a C30 emitting as low as 115 grams* of CO2 and running on 4.4 litres* per 62 miles and for the S40 and V50 1.6D DRIVe 118 grams* and 4.5 litres*.
For us, innovating for minimum environmental impact is as natural as innovating for maximum safety. Because if you have more than an 80 year record of being passionate about protecting people in cars, your protective instinct will also encompass the world we share. DRIVe captures our ambition to deliver cars for a better environment. The latest expression of this commitment to sustainable mobility is Volvo 1.6D DRIVe – three new Volvos that satisfy themselves with a mere 4.4 or 4.5 litres of fuel per 62 miles and emit just 115 or 118 g/km of CO2. In an environmental context, these figures are small but significant. The less fuel we use and the less carbon dioxide we all add to the atmosphere, the less we contribute to climate change caused by global warming. To achieve such low emissions, we tweaked the Volvo 1.6D turbodiesel engine and transmission for even higher fuel efficiency while maintaining performance. And to minimise air resistance, we spent hundreds of hours in our wind tunnel. We fine-tuned the car’s aerodynamic design – even underneath – to create perfect airflow conditions with minimum drag. Experience world-class safety and comfort in the new Volvo 1.6D DRIVe – designed for minimum emissions and maximum style.
